Mein Beruf als Creative Director bringt es mit sich, dass ich oft als Regisseur bei Fotoaufnahmen und Filmdrehs neben der Kamera stehe. Mit der Zeit ist der Wunsch gewachsen, wieder vermehrt selber mit der Kamera zu agieren, zu reagieren, den Augenblick einzufangen – sei das mit der Fotografie, sei das mit dem Medium Film. So lässt mich meine neu entdeckte Leidenschaft die Schweiz ganz neu entdecken. Und oft führt sie mich in Länder, die nicht typisch auf der Liste der beliebtesten Feriendestinationen stehen. Doch egal wo: Die Welt ist voll überwältigender Schönheit – und gnadenloser Unvollkommenheit. Beides offenbart sie oft nur in einem Bruchteil einer Sekunde. Dieser Augenblick, wenn die Zeit still steht, wenn eine Interaktion entsteht – dieser flüchtige Moment interessiert mich, den versuche ich einzufangen. Blüte und Zerfall, Fülle und Mangel, Freude und Leid: All das liegt im Leben oft unmittelbar beieinander. Mit meinen Bildern will ich beide Seiten beleuchten und zeigen, wie sich die Grenzen zwischen den Polen bewegen.
Am meisten interessieren mich Menschen und ihre Geschichten. Wir kommen in Kontakt, tauschen aus, oft mit Händen und Füssen, einer Geste, einem Lachen, immer respektvoll, auf Augenhöhe, die Würde jedes Menschen im Blick. Diese Nähe und Unmittelbarkeit liebe ich. Das geht nicht mit dem Teleobjektiv. Ich will kein Beobachter aus Distanz sein, sondern mitten im Leben, ein Teil der Menschen. Ich will lernen, entdecken, teilen. Foto und Film sind wunderbare Mittel dazu.
My job as a creative director means that I often stand next to the camera as a director on photo shoots and film shoots. Over time, the desire has grown to act more with the camera, to react, to capture the moment - be it with photography or with the medium of film. My newfound passion allows me to discover Switzerland anew. And it often takes me to countries that are not typically on the list of most popular holiday destinations. But no matter where: the world is full of overwhelming beauty - and merciless imperfection. It often reveals both in only a fraction of a second. This moment when time stands still, when an interaction arises - this fleeting moment interests me, this is what I try to capture. Blossom and decay, abundance and lack, joy and sorrow: all these things are often right next to each other in life. With my pictures I want to illuminate both sides and show how the boundaries between the poles move.
What interests me most are people and their stories. We come into contact, exchange, often with hands and feet, a gesture, a laugh, always respectful, at eye level, with the dignity of each person in mind. I love this closeness and immediacy. You can't do that with a telephoto lens. I don't want to be an observer from a distance, but in the middle of life, part of the people. I want to learn, discover, share. Photography and film are wonderful ways to do that.
